Florida!!

I am leaving for Florida for ten days today!! I am so excited to sit in the sun and get some knitting done!!! I need to think how I can bring enough yarn and project ideas for ten days. I normally don't plan that far ahead I just decide that day what I am going to knit and then start making my pattern or searching for one online.

I have a few of my knitting magazines that I have been saving for the trip. I hid them in my closet so I would make sure I had some new patterns and magazines to dissect while on my trip.

Barbie Knitting Machine

This is what first got me knitting. I got this for Christmas one year when I was a little girl. I was probably 8 or 9 when I got this. I loved knitting skirts and dresses and tops for all of my Barbies. This is what first sparked my love for knitting. I still have this machine and I still use it to knit dresses for the girls I babysit.

Knit Flower Headband

I was looking for a fun option of headgear for the winter months. After seeing a few cute things at different stores I decided upon a

knit headband with a crochet or knit flower attachment. I found a few patterns online but after making them I decided it might just be best to write my own pattern to tailor my exact wants and needs.

I saw this in a store and decided I wanted to make something that looked similar to this.

This is what I came up with.

You can make this headband with or without the attached flower or even attach something else! I have thought about large jewels or maybe a butterfly for a young girl.

Knit Flower Headband

Size 10 needles

Crochet hook sz J

Bulky weight yarn used (I used Lion Brand in Oatmeal)

Button for clasp

Cast on 7 stitches

Row 1: K, P, K till end of row

Row 2: P, K, P till end of row

Row 3,4: continue in rib pattern

Increase Rows:

Row 5: K, P, K, M1B, M1F, P, K, P, K (9 sts)

Row 6, 7, 8: Continue in rib pattern

Row 9: K, P, K, P, K, P, M1F, M1B, K, P, K (11 sts)

Row 10, 11, 12: Continue in rib pattern

Row 13: K, P, K, P, K, M1B, M1F, P, K, P, K, P, K (13 sts)

Row 14, 15, 16: Continue in rib pattern

Row 17: K, P, K, P, K, P, K, P, M1F, M1B, K, P, K, P, K (15 sts)

Row 18, 19, 20: Continue in rib pattern

Row 21: K, P, K, P, K, P, K, M1B, M1F, P, K, P, K, P, K, P, K (17 sts)

Avalanche Knitting!!

Our winter retreat with church, "Avalanche" was amazing! We played fun outdoor games but us girls definitely tried to stay inside where it was warn most of the time. At night I taught Sara, Kristen and Olivia how to knit. These are my little prodigies :) They definitely caught on quick!! I had so much fun teaching them how to do something I love and I hope that they keep doing it!!

Green Knit Scarf

It is made from this simple pattern I knit up:
