Feetie Socks

I know, I know, these should be called footies. But our youth pastors daughter, calls them feetie pajamas and feetie socks, so I find that much more fitting. Plus it's way cuter.

Anyways, I wear flats to work basically every day. And I normally don't wear socks, which is gross. I know. This is place to be honest. Besides this is the solution.

I kept looking on Ravelry for little footie covers or ballet socks. I found a few ballet flat sock patterns I might try and there even was the one I started here. Those by the way, still aren't finished. But then I decided wipping something up of my own would be better.

Here's how we started off. I am fairly pleased so far. Hopefully we will get everything finished up soon and my feet will be much happier. Plus everyone will be happy because I will post the pattern so you can have happy feet too!

Hoppin' Hat

I always see the cutest hats around the internet. I see loads upon loads of ideas that I couldn't even hope to attempt them all. My Ravelry queue is packed and I have a whole file full of ideas. This one, however made it out of the to-do box and onto my faithful model, Jasmine.

I used size 10 needles and worsted weight yarn. Cast on 52 stiches. Work in a 2x2 rib pattern for about an inch. Then switch to pink yarn. Knit only in the round for about an inch and a quarter in the pink. Switch back to gray for the next inch. Then switch to blue and knit for an inch and a quarter.

Now here is the trickiest part of this whole hat. take half your stitches and put them onto a spare needles or a scrap of yarn. Then you join the first set of stitches into a round. Switch into the gray yarn and knit about 5 rounds. Switch to your dark pink and knit for five rows. Switch back to gray and knit about five rows. Then switch back to green. Here I just knit until I felt like the ears were long enough. Then I decreased as following:

- *knit 3 k2tg* till last set of 5 stitches. this one I knit one then k2tg twice

- knit a round

- *k2, k2tg* till end of round

- knit a round

- *k1, k2tg* till end of round

Take remaining stitches and tie them off.

Then do the other ear in the exact manner.

To get this hat to scrunch up like that all you need to do it take some scrap yarn and a plastic needle. I just slid the yarn through the hat until I achieved the desired effect.

Then your hat will look at fabulous as this...

Oh Jasmine, my ever faithful model. I wish her head was a tiny bit bigger, but for now she will have to do. I think I just need one of my married friends to have a baby I can outfit in all this stuff!

Rosette Pattern

Flowers are easy to make! I love creating different kinds of flowers because they are so fast and versatile. They can be perfect little additions to many of your knit or crochet designs including headbands, hats, baskets, bracelets, and blankets!

I tried searching Ravelry for the perfect little rosette flower to add to one of my headband patterns and couldn't find anything even remotely close to what I wanted. So the obvious solution was to make my own flower up!

So here it is. This flower will seriously think take you about 5 minutes- TOPS!

Flower Rosette Pattern

I used a size H hook for these.

Ch 15. Single crochet into 3rd chain from end. Skip 1. SC into next ch after skipped chain, ch 1, single chain back in ch just SC into. This will create a V stitch. do this to the end of the chain, ending with a final V-stitch in the last ch on the row.

If you did this correctly, the chain will be all curled up now. I have used both hot glue and a darning needle and extra yarn to attach these to things. Whatever works best for you! So experiment and find out!

Boba Fett Hat Pattern

I was asked for a Boba Fett hat approximately a year ago. It was supposed to be a Christmas gift 2009. That obviously didn't happen unless I was severely behind on my blogging. Nope, just severely behind on my projects.

Fast forward to 2010. I decided it was time to buckle down and pump this hat out. Turns out waiting this long and mulling over a projects makes it better. I was so happy with how this hat turned out.

It is a very basic hat design with some colorwork on it. I tried to make it as simple as possible because I had so many projects to do.

To go into a little bit more detail on the colorwork I simply switched colors, making sure I twisted the strand when changing colors as to not have a hole. VERY IMPORTANT! Then once I was finished I tied the loose end up and trimmed them. I also attempted burning them slightly to make sure the knots stayed. This worked for me but can be risky.

What you need:

Worsted weight green, black and maroon yarn.

darning needle

size 10 circular needle

stitch marker

Boba Fett Hat Pattern

Cast on 80 stitches

Join in the round making sure not to twist your stitches.

Round 1-3: Green 30, Maroon 6, Black 8, Maroon 6, Green 30. I worked these rounds in a K2, P2 pattern to the end.

Round 4-6:Continue in the same colorwork pattern as stated above with Knit the entire round (take out the Purl stitches)

Round 7-9: Maroon K36, Black K8, Maroon K36

Round 10-12: Black K to end

Round 13-15: Maroon K to end

Round 15- desired length of hat: Green K to end of round (I made my hat coming to about the middle of my ears aprox 5-6in.)

Decrease Rounds:

Round 1: *K8 K2tog* to end of round

Round 2 and all other even rounds: K

Round 3: *K7 K2tog* to end of round

Round 5: *K6 K2tog* to end of round

Round 7: *K5 K2tog* to end of round

Round 9: *K4 K2tog* to end of round

Round 11: *K3 K2tog* to end of round

Round 13: *K2 K2tog* to end of round

Round 15: *K2tog* to end of round

Take darning needle and tie off remain stitches and weave in ends.

Minion Hat Pattern

To start, I love, love, LOVE the minions from Despicable Me. I think it's an adorable movie and wanted a minion hat so badly. Cue new pattern.

I so badly wanted to start on this before Christmas but I refrained. It was hard trust me. As many knitters know you get a new idea and want to start on it ASAP instead of doing projects you need to finish. Typical wants vs. needs! Go figure.

Anyways. I decided my easiest route was to knit a simple beanie hat and then add the details by crocheting them and attaching them to the hat. For people that only crochet or only knit I apologize.

Items needed:

(for hat)

Bright yellow yarn worsted weight

Size 10 circular needles

(for embellishments)

Gray yarn worsted weight

White yarn worsted weight

Black yarn worsted weight

Size J crochet hook

Darning needle

Batting (opt)

Hat Pattern

Cast on 76 stitches. Join round careful not to twist.

Round 1-5: *K2, P2* to end of round

Round 6+: K in round till hat is at desired length (usually 5-6 in before you begin decreases)

Decrease Rounds:

Round 1: Decrease by 6 stitches evenly throughout the round

Round 2 and all other even rounds: K

Round 3: *K7 K2tog* to end of round

Round 5: *K6 K2tog* to end of round

Round 7: *K5 K2tog* to end of round

Round 9: *K4 K2tog* to end of round

Round 11: *K3 K2tog* to end of round

Round 13: *K2 K2tog* to end of round

Round 15: *K2tog* to end of round

Take darning needle and tie off remain stitches and weave in ends.

Eyes: (make 2)

Round 1: With black yarn: Ch 3. DC11 into 3rd ch from hook (2 ch counts as one DC totaling 12 in one chain)

Round 2: Continue to work but with the white yarn. Ch 2. *2DC in first ch, DC in next ch* continue to end of round. (total 18 chs)

Round 3: Ch 2. SC in each SC all the way around

Now your eye should be rounded as to create room for some batting.

Goggle: (make 1 after making eyes)

These were pretty easy. There are two different ways that these could be done. By doing one eye at a time, or do both at once (as I did in the picture above).

Join gray yarn were white ended. DC in each ch around eye. Then take second eye and with the SAME yarn strand DC into a ch onto the second eye. Then continue to DC all the way around the second eye as you did the first.

After you are finished, Just kind of move the yarn around until it is flipped up around the eyes. This will create an almost 3D effect to it.

Then take your black yarn and ch 5. DC in the 3rd ch. and DC one into each of the following ch (3 DC total).

*Ch 2. DC one into each of the following 3 chs.* Continue making this small band until it fits around the middle of your yellow hat.

Now all we need to do is attach everything! I simply took a darning needle and attached everything. Make sure you're careful because things can end up looking crooked with the black band. The best way to do it is draw a small guide on the actual hat and then sew over the line.

As for the eyes, those are pretty simple. Just make sure you put a small amount of batting to fill out the eyes.

Then that's it! You will have one of the most amazing little hats ever!
